CMYC Announces Resignation of Executive Director, Sabra Lemmon
YUMA, AZ, November 20, 2016 – The Board of Directors for The Children’s Museum of Yuma County is sadly announcing the resignation of SABRA LEMMON from the position of Executive Director. Citing personal and family reasons, Lemmon’s resignation is effective December 9, 2016.
“I have enjoyed every bit of working for the Children’s Museum of Yuma County,” said Lemmon. “There have been some fantastic challenges because we’re charting new territory, but that’s been part of the fun.”
Lemmon gained popularity throughout the area as Yuma Mom; for the last three years, she has been the primary contributor of content to the popular resource website. She also teaches business at Northern Arizona University Yuma. Her plan is to continue helping CMYC grow.
“I still want to help fulfill the mission of the museum – which is to open a permanent location. I just won’t be doing that as the executive director,” said Lemmon. “This is a cause that is very close to my heart – rest assured, you haven’t seen the last of me!”
According to board president Kevin Burge, Lemmon has made great strides since she took the job in June 2016. “In her short tenure, she has managed to generate lots of interest and excitement for the organization, which is exactly what we need at this stage of our development.”
Lemmon’s separation from CMYC is mutual and amicable, Burge said. “Sabra has been a joy to work with. We are deeply saddened to see her go, but as an organization that recognizes the value of families, we understand and appreciate her priorities. We look forward to working with her however she comes back to us because she has been a remarkable asset to our organization.”
The Executive Director position is grant-funded through a generous contribution from the Gowan Company. The Executive Director position will be posted online at www.yumachildrensmuseum.com on Monday, November 21, and available for applicants to submit resumes.
